I'm not breaking any news when I say that Navy and Notre Dame exist on two different planes of the college football universe. Not that anyone should sell Navy short. Those planes have gotten closer over the last decade and a half as the Midshipmen revitalized their program; close enough for Navy to win a few. Still, Notre Dame is college football royalty, and even among the power conferences, there aren't many programs that operate in the same space as the Irish.

I say that because as someone who follows the Navy program, I’m always fascinated by what are considered problems at Notre Dame. I’ll watch one of their games every once in a while, and they’ll inevitably have players that impress me. Then I’ll read about those players afterward only to see that people are complaining about half of them and talking about whether someone else should be playing.
